Life University stars Orrin Bizer and Su Adegoke received their Prusmack Award trophies Saturday to honor them as the best collegiate 7s players in the USA.

Both players praised their development and mentors highly in their acceptance speeches and later speaking with GRR. Adegoke got started playing flag rugby with Play Rugby USA in the New York City area, and she credited the coaches and the program with Play Rugby not only with instilling in her a love of the game but also teaching her how to play it well.

It was the Play Rugby coaches who got her into Life University, where she is now pursuing a Master's, and which launched her on a trajectory toward higher honors.

Bizer started playing with the Woodlands Youth program in Texas, where his sister, 7s and 15s Eagle Meya Bizer also played. Bizer also spoke highly of his youth program, that gave him the skills to continue on with the sport, but also helped him enjoy the sport more.

Both Adegoke and Bizer are hybrid players. Adegoke is known for her pace and elusiveness, but what sets her apart is the fact that she is physically strong and powerful in contact. She can play 7s as a forward, an inside back, or on the outside, and she has developed her vision and leadership as well.

Bizer is a powerful forward and sets the tone for his team, but his open field play and overall fitness makes him special. By working on his ability to cover the field Bizer went from a very good 7s forward to a player who can make plays anywhere on the field.

Both players sparked their Life University teams to national championship wins at the CRAA Premier 7s. What they also have in common is both arrived on campus as accomplished players, but then decided to work exceptionally hard to improve their play and develop new skills and strengths.

The Prusmack Award is presented by the US Rugby Foundation
