NSCRO Semifinals Unsure What to Expect

The National Small College Rugby Organization women’s final four is set to kick off Saturday in Cherry Hill, NJ with four teams that really aren’t sure how to feel about each other.
 
As often happens at this level, teams operate somewhat in a vacuum. 
 
Roger Williams were virtually untouched in their demolition of teams in New England.

Central Best in PMC North

Well that settles that. If there was any question as to whether Central Washington is the strongest DI women’s college in the Pacific Northwest, then it was answered last weekend. Washington State, the reigning Pacific Mountain North champion, traveled to Ellensburg for the teams’ first official meeting and returned to Pullman with a 41-5 loss.

Kutztown, DII's Heart-Breaker

One thing was certain as Kutztown and Vassar lined up for their quarterfinal on Sunday: One of last year’s Final Four teams wasn’t returning to Florida this December. And through 80 minutes of play, it appeared that Kutztown was the team to be left behind, as Vassar established and retained a lead throughout the game.

Norwich, Winona Look to Defend Fall Domination

Now that ACRA has been assimilated into USA Rugby, essentially – hence the official fall championship description including “hosted by ACRA” - the awkwardness of the two “national” titles will be resolved, to an extent. The DI and DII teams that emerge victorious on Dec. 7 will be known as USA Rugby’s fall champions and earn berths to the national final against the spring champion on May 9.
