Deep South DII Latest

It’s all to play for in the Deep South DII Men’s College league as Louisiana-Lafayette, Troy, and Louisiana Tech all won to bunch up the picture at the top of the standings.

The only official game in the books was Louisana-Lafayette hammering a good Spring Hill team 60-0. Spring Hill was hurt by injuries on the day and ULL powered through with a strong forward attack and some pace out wide. It was just not Spring Hill’s day.

But at least they pitched up a full side. Southern Mississippi couldn’t as La Tech beat them soundly with four tries from Aaron Gootzeit and three from Jalen Brown. Thomas Savoie was player of the game, which will go in the books as a 20-0 forfeit for La Tech.

Same story for Troy, as they beat South Alabama 28-20 (lending them a few players in the process), and Yorick Hessing scored three tries. It’s a 20-0 forfeit in the standings.

So, with three weeks done, ULL, Troy, and La Tech are all close to the top, while Tulane and perhaps an emboldened Spring Hill can get back there.
