South Ben, Ind.– The 2025 Big Ten Universities Rugby Championship wrapped up Sunday in a snowstorm.
After the first two of the four matches on the day were done we had seen two entertaining matches in chilly but clear weather.
Tennessee Pulls Away from Kentucky to Unseat Champs
Tennessee continued their impressive run with a 39-22 defeat of Kentucky Saturday, taking down the two-time defending SCRC and NCR D1AA champions in the process.
In a close match Tennessee was able to pull away late in the game.
Men's D2 Playoff Teams Decided
With the results in Men's D2 college we have a better idea of where we are on the playoff picture.
Cornell wrapped up an undefeated conference season, going 8-0, including semis and final, as they beat RPI in the Liberty D2 championship match.
NCR D1AA Playoff Teams Decided
Texas A&M defeated Sam Houston State 34-24 to win the Lonestar Conference, but both of those teams are already in the NCR playoffs.
The victory for Texas A&M, however, ensured them a week off before the quarterfinals on November 22.
Virginia Tech, West Chester Impress as they Win in Final MARC Weekend
Virginia Tech and West Chester will be going on to the NCR D1AA playoffs.
Observant fans will notice that the Mid-Atlantic Rugby Conference (MARC) has not played a final yet, and they won't. With a play-in round coming up next weekend the teams in the conference held a conference call this past week to confirm that a two-game weekend was not in anyone's best interest.
