GRR: Rugby Idaho
Rocky Mountain started off their Idaho league season with a nice victory over Mountain View, and while Kyle van Tonder was not the player of the game, maybe that’s because he’s a victim of being the player he is.
Rocky Mountain defeated Mountain View 41-22 in the opening weekend of the Rugby Idaho season.
This game was special not just because it was the opener, but because it was played at a dedicated rugby pitch with permanent posts.
East Idaho’s Rugby Rendezvous was, in Bingham United boys coach Ryan Woodland’s opinion, a success - 11 high school boys teams and three high school girls teams came out to the pre-season event to see where they stand against their competition and see where to go from here.
With their flyhalf and goalkicker, Colbin Larson, in the sin bin in overtime of the Idaho Boys state championship game, Boise’s Capital HS had to turn to a third-string flanker named Lennin Rodriguez.
The Idaho Boys HS final is slated for this weekend with annual rivals Capital HS and Mountain View ready to face off once more.
