GRR: Rebel Rugby Academy
Some statements were made at the Tropical 7s Boys U18 Elite bracket today.
The Jamaica Junior Crocs showed how far their program has come with two impressive victories over Rugby Quebec and Hawkeyes, and their loss to Eagle Impact Rugby Academy (which cost them #1 in their pool) was just 24-19. EIRA, like the Crocs, went 2-1, losing a shaky opener 12-7 to Hawkeyes.
It's fair to say that 2022 was a breakout year for the Rebel Rugby Academy.
A select side formed in the West with an eye toward chasing the more established teams such as Atlantis and EIRA, Rebel not only chased effectively but, in 2022, caught them.
This past weekend was a nice, big step forward for Rebel Rugby Academy as their three teams all brought home hardware.
The North American Invitational 7s had some new faces this year, and that was especially noticeable in the Boys U18 Elite bracket.
Eagle Impact Rugby Academy was not there, as their focus is on a multi-team 15s tour of Ireland. But even programs we normally see in the finals, such as Atlantis or Rhinos, weren’t playing for the championship.
Rebel Rugby Academy went 6-0 at the Tropical 7s to take the Boys U18 bracket.
Made up of players from the Colorado and Texas area, for the most part, Rebel beat Panther 7s Gold, Gorilla Rugby Academy Black, and Panther White to win their pool.
