University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, ranked #2 by Goff Rugby Report, defeated #11 Vermont 63-25 to advance to the USA Rugby National Men’s DII College semifinals. The Warhawks will face Notre Dame College, which beat Salisbury Sunday.

The top 16 Men’s DII College teams are down to eight as the Round of 16 games are done.

There were two upsets, but they weren’t startling upsets. Vermont, ranked #11 by Goff Rugby Report, edged SUNY Oswego, ranked #8, 22-19. They will take on #2 Wisconsin-Whitewater, which thrashed Bentley (#25) 69-0.

The Men's DII College playoffs begin Saturday around the country; here are our picks: (Goff Rugby Report rankings in parentheses) Northeast Region 
Kingston, RI
UW-Whitewater (#2) vs. Bentley (#25). The Warhawks are powerful. Bentley will push them, but UWW wins. 
Vermont (#11) vs. SUNY-Oswego (#9).

University of Minnesota-Duluth has been the #1-ranked team in the Goff Rugby Report DII rankings for the entire fall, and they’ve been there because no one has come close to defeating them.

After a tough two-point loss in the waning minutes of the Potomac Rugby Conference Championship game last weekend, Towson University rebounded to hold off a tough Virginia Military Institute to move on to the National Round of 16.

VMI fielded a very large pack of forwards and how Towson handled their attack was a key component of the game.
