COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The United States Olympic Committee announced the 2014 U.S. Youth Olympic Team to compete at the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games Monday, July 7.

The Coastal Dragons Youth Rugby Club hosted the Encinitas Summer 7s Youth Rugby Tournament on June 28 at the Cardiff Sports Park in Encinitas, Calif.

All told, 54 teams from Southern California attended, playing divisions U10, U12, U14, U16, and U18.

The Perrysburg HS Boys team won the Rugby Ohio DII state 7s title this past weekend, playing in their first ever 7s season.

Perrysburg beat Shaker Heights 19-12 and beat Mentor and Stark County by a combined score of 52-0 in pool play. The wins came at a cost, though, at top-scoring flyhalf Chris Labadie had to miss two games due to a cut on the head.

St. Ignatius of the Cleveland area won the Ohio State HS 7s boys DI bracket Saturday, defeating Indian Springs 19-7 in the title game.

Led by MVP Aedan Mangan, St Ignatius claimed their second-straight 7s title, about a month after winning the Ohio state championship in 15s.

The Liberty HS boys team won the U19 boys bracket of the first leg of the Rugby Washington Subway Summer Sevens Series.

Paced by a strong day from Michael Thomson, in his last game with the team, and with Austin Liddell also test defenses, Liberty defeated Seattle 31-19 in the final.
