Herriman took top honors in the Montana Invitational after winning four games over the weekend.
"This was a really well-run tournament and I hope they keep having it," said Herriman Head Coach Jeff Wilson.
HS rugby was relatively quiet around the middle chunk of the country this weekend as Easter slowed things down.
UtahHowever, we did see Herriman produce an emphatic win over Highland 60-28. Herriman led 60-7 until late. Kaden Sturgis scored two tries, both on interceptions, while Logan Youngblood and Mote Kinikini showed well.
The top two teams in Utah in #7-ranked school team Herriman and #4-ranked Cavemen met up Saturday evening in Utah league play, and it was the Cavemen who came away victors.
It was Senior Night for Cavemen and they were recognizing 21 seniors, most of whom had been with the Cavemen/American Fork program since early middle school.
Herriman and East, the only single school programs in Utah's combined Tier 1, met in an early season match after getting their feet wet at the Puriri Invitational last week.
Defending state champion East was looking to establish itself after an uneven showing in that warmup tournament, while Herriman was looking to continue its momentum from a strong start.
