Pelham and Xavier will meet for the Rugby NY Boys HS championship after both won semifinals Saturday.

Pelham defeated Western NY champions Fairport 22-12 in the first semi. Luke Persanis and Matt Biskup scored tries for Pelham and Sam Louman scored two, with Whit Johnson adding a conversion. All of Pelham's scoring was in the first half, as they then pulled some starters and held on.

Xavier, meanwhile, started somewhat slowly but ended up pulling away from WNY runners-up Kenmore 55-0. Prop Daniel Waggoner, fullback Damon Anderson, and, as has been the case all season, No. 8  Malik Fisher all played very well for Xavier.

The two winners now face off Sunday for the state championship.

In DII, Saratoga defeated Keio/FASNY 24-17, while Rye hammered  Corning 48-5.
