This Weekends D1A Games And Our Picks

BAylor faces Oklahoma in the one conference game. Owen Maat photo.

This weekend is all about getting started for spring-centric college rugby teams, and we’ve got the games and out picks in D1A.

BYU at Texas A&M and Texas

The Cougars travel to the Lone Star State to kick off 2020 and will test themselves against the Red River Conference favorite (A&M) and a much-improved Longhorns team.

Expect BYU to win these games, and possibly by a wide margin, but if A&M can get some points on the board, and if Texas can hang for a while, then that is something to hang their hat on.

San Diego State at Arizona

This game will be on FTF and will be a good early test for both. Arizona is a favored team here and we think it could be a 20-point or more win for the Wildcats.

Cal at UC Davis

Last year this clash was a massive blowout for Cal. Expect Cal to win again but Davis will do everything they can to keep it in double-digits.

UCLA at Cal Poly

This is a huge rankings game. After pushing Grand Canyon close last week, Cal Poly can move into the Top 20 with a win over UCLA. For the Bruins, a good result should ensure they stay above GCU and possibly higher in the rankings. It’s a pick ‘em game for us.

Oklahoma at Baylor

This is an actual Red River Conference game. OU is 2-0 but this will be a tough ask against a solid Baylor side. We’ve got Baylor by 10.
