USA Rugby had confirmed that two test matches will be held in July as part of the 2024 American Series.

The Eagle men will host Romania in Chicago on Friday, July 5 and Scotland in Washington DC on Friday, July 12.

Produced in partnership with AEG Rugby as event delivery partner, the two events join a pair of USA vs Canada fixtures with the Women (April 28th) and Men (August 31st) in Los Angeles at Dignity Health Sports Park, all rounding out the 2024 American Series. Tickets for the Romania and Scotland match will be available for presale to the USA Rugby Membership on Thursday, March 21 with tickets then open to the general public on Friday, March 22.

Presale details will be delivered to USA Rugby Members via email and general public tickets available at Both matches will be streamed live on FloRugby.

New USA Rugby CEO, Bill Goren said on the summer series of events, “We’re thrilled to have a full slate of Eagles test matches on home soil again with the announcement of two additional events against Romania and Scotland. Hosting in three major regions across the country from Los Angeles, Chicago and Washington DC gives USA Rugby an opportunity to re-engage the rugby community with home events and four stellar matchups we know fans will enjoy. With each city also a host candidate for the 2031 and 2033 Rugby World Cup, we’re excited for these experiences to start a foundation of success in each market going forward.”

The USA Men’s Eagles played Romania just last summer in a 31-17 victory from Bucharest. These matches have been a revival of the Pershing Cup, named after US Army General John J. Pershing who organized the Inter-Allied Games, a multi-sport event from Paris in 1919. In 1924, the USA and Romania famously played each other again in Paris for the Olympic Games which will celebrate its 100-year anniversary this year. The Men’s Eagles also famously defeated Scotland when the last played in 2018. The team's first modern victory over a tier-one nation and a result this Scott Lawrence-led squad will look to repeat.

(Lawrence was the USA's defense coach during that win.)

Men’s Eagles Head Coach Scott Lawrence said on the pair of fixtures, “Romania and Scotland are two teams who’ve had a positive amount of time together through the Rugby World Cup and this year’s international competitions in Europe, this is a chance for us to get started in our 2024 campaign and try combinations ahead of the Pacific Nations Cup and November test series. All test matches are special but home test matches are rare and special for the USA National Team. We’re both excited and grateful we get to share the experience together with our families and our community.”

AEG Rugby Executive Director, Dan Lyle added, “AEG Rugby are excited to have partnered with World Rugby and USA Rugby to help deliver the American Series which we created to support the overall calendar, along with giving both fans and brands a clear sight line for the 2024 season and beyond. Each of these four games is unique, but with great cities, venues and opposition. We hope to build each match and the series into authentic experiences that appeal to new and old fans alike.”
