SHAWNIGAN LAKE, B.C. - USA Men’s U20s head coach Scott Bracken has named his match-day roster for the finale of the World Rugby Trophy Qualifiers against Canada tomorrow, KO 8 PM ET, LIVE on facebook.com/RugbyCanada.  Canada head coach Jeff Williams has also named his lineup.

In total, two changes have been made from the first matchup with Jasper Green in at wing and Inoke Waqavesi shifting to the reserves. Utah Warriors’ Jake Christmann could also see an opportunity to jump in, suiting up a as a reserve in place of Royce Fisher.

While 26 players will dress for the finale, only 23 will see playing time including the 15 starters and eight reserves.

Canada took the first victory of the qualifiers with a 33-44 result on Monday in a game that was exciting from end to end. As the qualifying team is named based on a cumulative score, the United States could still seal their position in the World Rugby Trophy Tournament with a win by at least 12 points.

Head Coach Scott Bracken said: “The team is in a really good place right now. After a few more training sessions and film study, we have steadily progressed. The guys have really bonded a well and are having a great camp experience. I think the improvement will be noticeable come Saturday.”

Both Avery Oitomen (full back) and Mason Flesch (flanker) suffered mild concussions and must follow the return to play protocols which exclude them from playing. They will be replaced by Thomas Isherwood and Will Matthews. Jack Carson (scrum half) and Brandon Hebert (second row) replace JT Boehme and Hugh Goovaerts.

Canada holds an 11 point lead in the aggregate score going into game 2 having won game , 44-33 in a thrilling game last Tuesday.

Game 2 will be at Shawnigan Lake School on Saturday June 8 at 8pm ET/ 5pm PT.

“Last game featured ball in play for 50 minutes, higher than in senior internationals, and only one American scrum, reflecting skillful play from both sides," commented Head Coach Jeff Williams. “Traditionally USA are stronger in game 2 so we will have our work cut out for us to qualify for Brazil.”
