Tournament Updates - Minnesota, Jackalope

The University of Minnesota-Duluth swept the field at the All-Minnesota tourney men’s college bracket, taking first place.

The Fighting Penguins had little trouble with most of their opponents, although Winona State provided a stern test in the final - a game Duluth won 26-12.

“We were able to get some game time for a lot of younger players,” said Head Coach Jaramy Katchuba. “We graduated some players and so this year some guys have some big shoes to full. Overall we looked OK.”

Winona State took 2nd and Minnesota-Twin Cities took 3rd.

St. Thomas took the Tier 2 college bracket with a 32-7 defeat of St. Johns B.

Overall Duluth’s A side was 4-0 with 203 points scored to 17 against.

Also this weekend, the University of Wyoming hosted its annual Jackalope Tournament. Colorado defeated Wyoming in a close, exciting game 17-10, with Wyoming just denied a tying try when the cover defense hauled in a Cowboy on a breakaway.

Wyoming beat Utah State 27-12, while Colorado State beat Montana State 69-24. Air Force defeated Utah State 29-19 and Northern Colorado 59-14 to welcome the new coaching staff of Denny Merideth, Paul Emerick, and James Paterson.
