This listing only includes players from declared D1A teams—those that were committed to NCR competition will get their due soon.

Our listing is based on recommendations, what we saw with our own eyes, video evidence, and the judgment of other observers. We are listing only players from teams that competed in a meaningful way in the fall. So even though they played some this fall, players from Life, Lindenwood, UCLA, Grand Canyon, Cal Poly, and Saint Mary's will have to wait until the spring. We do include Davenport because they seven games, against highly-regarded opponents (no warmups), and two of those were conference games. 

We have chosen four players for each jersey number but we've also moved people around a bit. Here below, listed in alphabetical order in each position group, are our top D1A backs of the fall:
