Playing in the Deep South, Southeastern Louisiana could well be a Men's D2 College dark horse and showed that over the weekend with a win over the University of Houston.
Played on a very hot Saturday evening, the game was tight in the first half, but opened up for a 52-22 SLU victory.
The Lions were strong in the lineouts and scrums throughout, and that pressure from the pack set up opportunities for the backs.
"Our first half was not what we wanted, but we played our game in the second," said SLU Head Coach Mark Dixson. "We’ve got a lot to work on. It was a tough first half as the men were a little game rusty, but we knocked that off at the half and finished with a strong disciplined second.”
