Strake Jesuit put in an impressive showing in Texas, shutting out Dallas Jesuit 31-0.

Led by a strong defensive effort from No. 8 Mike Melton, looehead prop Daniel Walls, lock Nick Hernandez, and fullback Christian Bennett Strake put together a very good team performance. They secured a bonus-point win and are the #1 seed going into Texas's single-school playoffs.

"Really all of our guys had outstanding defensive efforts," said Strake Head Coach Jason Kimball.

Dallas Jesuit held possession for long periods and most of that in Strake territory, but the Strake defensive front held firm.

"Our boys just bore down and played fundamental rugby," said Kimball.

Strake played without two key seniors, with center/flanker Nick Leone out with a knee injury, and wing Eric Wrzysczynski, who broke his clavicle against Jesuit New Orleans. Wrzysczynski was on the sideline in a coaching capacity.

Strake will play Lake Travis in the Texas Single-School semis, while Dallas Jesuit will play St. Thomas. For their part, St. Thomas played Detroit Central Catholic in Michigan this weekend, with Detroit winning 21-17.
