SPASH Breakout Team in Wisconsin Girls League

Hamilton, SPASH, and Divine Savior Holy Angels lead the pack in Wisconsin's Girls HS league.

Hamilton emerged from the Bruisers unhurt, winning 31-7 to improve to 2-0 and sit atop the Jeff Noe Conference. The Bruisers drop to 1-1-1, and DSHA's Bs are also at 1-1-1.

In the Tony Oliver Conference, Divine Savior beat Pittsfield 28-0 to improve to 2-0.

But the team to watch so far is SPASH (Stevens Point Area Senior High), which moved to 3-0 after beating Green Bay 39-24.

This follows their 27-7 win over Muskego and a 28-0 forfeit win over Pulaski.

The key for SPASH, said coaches Tim Wandtke, Carrie Diaond, and Andrew Yunk, is good, solid tackling and stout defense.

The SPASH side sports 13 seniors on its roster, so leadership and maturity are key.

The Panthers move the ball well and are scoring tries as a result. Much of tht has to do with the playmaking of Michaela Gleason and Maggie Behnke.

Meanwhile the finishing is spread around the team but Scout Spadoni and Grace Kelly have been especially effective in converting chances into tries.

Two more weeks remain on the schedule before the playoffs. The big clash will be Divine Savior vs SPASH this coming Saturday at Dretzka Park. Hamilton will play Catholic Memorial this coming weekend, and that will be no easy feat. While CMH sits 4th in the Noe Conference, they are 1-1 and could trip up Hamilton.
