San Diego Legion Hosting University Recruiting Week
The San Diego Legion will be holding a University Week surrounding its June 7 match against Old Glory DC, which includes three different events for youth athletes wanting to play the game at the next level.
On June 4, a Virtual Rugby Resume Workshop will help youth athletes take the next step in their rugby journeys. The workshop will walk them through the key elements of building a strong résumé while giving clear next steps and tools to improve their visibility to recruiters.
Before the Legion’s home match against Old Glory DC on June 7, the team is hosting an in-person College Fan Fest where attendees can learn about recruitment, scholarship and the student-athlete experience. Representatives from seven women’s college programs and nine men’s programs – including Dartmouth College Women's, University of Utah Men's, Grand Canyon University Men's, Saint Mary's College Women's, and San Diego State University Men's and Women's programs – will be in attendance to connect with athletes.
On June 8, the San Diego Legion College Combine, a three-hour showcase of youth talent, will be held at Encinitas Community Park. Participants can test their speed, strength, and agility with top-tier physical drills, while demonstrating their sport-specific abilities in skill sessions and live scrimmages in front of college coaches and recruiters. Point Loma Nazarene College of Health Sciences will be providing physical assessments for the athletes.
These events are designed to bridge the gap between high school rugby players and college programs. It gives athletes and their families an inside look into collegiate rugby.

WHEN – The Virtual Rugby Resume Workshop will begin at 6 p.m. on June 4. On June 7, the College Rugby Gameday Fan Fest will run from 5:30 p.m. until the Legion kick off against Old Glory DC at Torero Stadium. On June 8, the San Diego Legion College Combine will take place from 9 a.m. to noon for girls and 1 p.m to 4 p.m. for boys.
