Rugby Day! Utah Youth Rugby Holds Fall 7s Opener

United girls are happy.

Rugby ramps up in high school 7s this weekend, with Utah Youth Rugby kicking off its fall season.

While some teams in Utah have seen a bit of a slowdown in signups as some parents are wary of allowing their kids playing time during the COVID-19 pandemic, UYR's campaign of pointing out how extensive screen time is bad for kids has helped get eager kids back on the field.

Brighton and Copper Hills have merged for the fall on the boys side, and among the girls, Kearns and South Davis formed one team. Herriman, which usually wins the boys 7s league and usually fields two squads, is down to just the one side this autumn.

But despite the struggles some teams have had to recruit and get ready after the season was given a go, they are ready to play now.

On Saturday, October 3, the Boys Pool will see Bright/Copper Hills, Herriman, Wasatch, United, and Mountain Ridge play each other in a 10-game round-robin:
