R7CC List of Teams Nears Completion

R7CC Teams So Far.

ATLANTA – The USA Rugby 7s Collegiate Championships (R7CC) is close to confirming all the more than 60 teams schedule to compete May 14-15 at Kennesaw State University’s Fifth Third Bank Stadium.

The tournament, which will have six brackets, three each for men and for women, and will be broadcast live on NBC, CNBC, and Peacock.

Men’s teams will be broken into Gold (D1A), Red (D1 Club), and Blue (D2) divisions while women’s teams will compete in Gold (D1 Elite and NIRA), Red (D1), and Blue (D2). With the completion of recent qualifier tournaments, event organizers have announced the second group of confirmed teams across the men’s and women’s divisions. Remaining teams will be announced in the coming days as regional and conference qualifications are finalized and at large invites are extended.

Men’s Gold Division:

Air Force, University of Arizona, Cal Poly, Central Washington University, Davenport University, Indiana University, Life University, Lindenwood University, Navy, The Ohio State University, Penn State University, Saint Mary’s College, Texas A&M University, and UCLA.

This list includes some major powers that have won or made the finals of big collegiate 7s tournaments in the past. Saint Mary's, which just booked a place in the D1A final, will have a short turnaround to compete in the 7s event, but they have done that before.

Women’s Gold Division:

American International College, Army, Central Washington University, Dartmouth College, Harvard University, Life University, Lindenwood University, Penn State University, Queens University of Charlotte, and West Chester University.

this is an intriguing mix of NIRA and D1 Elite, and in fact is the only place where we can see those teams mix. The four D1 Elite teams are confirmed, along with the top three from NIRA D1, and the top three from NIRA D2.

Men’s Red Division:

University of Florida, Harvard University, Iowa State University, Kennesaw State University, Long Beach State University, Sam Houston State University, University of San Diego, UC Santa Cruz, Stanford University, and the University of Tennessee.

This is an eclectic, and therefore unpredictable, mix of what is essentially really strong DIAA-level teams. This list includes teams that qualified through various conference tournaments.

Women’s Red Division:

Davenport University and UConn.

This division will have more teams confirmed as the qualifications are finalized.

Men’s Blue Division:

Furman University and Trinity College

This division will have more teams confirmed as the qualifications are finalized.

Women’s Blue Division:

University of Georgia, Kennesaw State University, and San Jose State University.
