The May Madness CRC has some new developments as the roughly 110 college teams get set for a full three-day weekend of Rugby 7s.
One of the main developments isn't immediately apparent to fans, but will matter a lot to the players, and that's the condition of the fields.
Jefferson Parish, which oversees the maintenance of the fields, left the fields unused for several weeks, watering and caring for them but not allowing sports on them at all.
The result is a set of fields with nice, strong grass and no wear and tear.
For the players, this will be a hugely important benefit.
In the stadium, the Shrine on Airline, the outfield will be expanded as a warmup area. Fans will be able to see the games and also the next two teams set to compete warming up.
