Goff Rugby Report's preseason Men's DII College rankings is a massive piece of guesswork.

We have a large chunk of teams that have moved out of D2 and into NCR's D1—the 2021 Champions, Thomas More; the 2021 Runners-up, Adrian; and another playoff team that narrowly missed out on the top 4, Marian all are out of DII.

So what do we do? Do we automatically bump #3 and #4 into the top two spots. We don't. How these teams return players and build their depth and their traditions is important. Northern Iowa or Norwich could well win it all, but we're going to wait on them. Our #1 is a team that returned a lot of talent and were very close to a top four place. Yes they lost to Norwich in the playoffs last fall, but it's not just about that.

We have some large schools in D2 in Virginia and now NC State and West Virginia, and were waiting on them. But we give a little boost to a Marist team that returns most of their starters, and a Georgetown team we think pretty highly of.

Expect this list to move around a lot.
