Penn State Slams Queens

Penn State put down something of a marker Thursday with an impressive 32-10 defeat of Queens University in Canada.

Queens led early, scoring a try to answer Jimmy Ronin’s penalty to go ahead 5-3. But a lineout and maul led to Chris Burian’s try and Ronin’s conversion to put PSU up 10-3. Burian’s line break set up another Ronin penalty.

The former Gonzaga HS standout was busy as Penn State put the pressure on. And another former HS star - Michael Dabulas of the Union Mudturtles in New Jersey - scored Penn State’s second try, which Ronin converted for a 20-5 lead. Queens scored a second but then Burian scored his second to make it 25-10. The Penn State loose forward, who played for Doylestown in high school, was all kinds of trouble for Queens.

Burian then made it three and Brendan McCabe converted to cap it off 32-10.

"It was a good hit-out for us," said Penn State Head Coach Blake Burdette. "The boys played very physical, and really took advantage of turnover ball."
