UC Santa Cruz moved to 2-0 in the Pac West with a convincing shutout of Nevada over the weekend.

The Banana Slugs have started well in the DIAA conference that serves Northern California teams as well as UN-Reno.

Center Logan Tiego kicked eight conversions and had a try for 21 points. No. 8 Jackson Zabierek backed up his three-try performance over San Jose State the week before with four this week. Wing Andrew Cline scored three.

Also victorious and also 2-0 in the conference is Chico State. Two tries and two conversions from flyhalf Riley Silveira and two tries from No. 8 Timothy Mulholland paced the Wildcats to a 46-10 defeat of San Jose State Saturday. Chico State beat Nevada the week before with Silveira scoring 15 and Mulholland also scoring twice.

And Fresno State, tapped by many as a favorite in this conference, opened their account with a 66-14 defeat of Sacramento State. In this high-flying game wing Nathan Eldridge scored three tries and wing Joshua Jacobson equaled that feat. Clearly Fresno can move the ball and find space. Center Roberto Medina had two tries as Fresno State rolled.

Stanford's games so far this season have been postponed as the university is slower to let things get back to normal.
