Ohio Boys 7s Latest

St. Xavier is enjoying a good fall. Alex Goff photo.

St. Ignatius is showcasing some serious depth in the boys competition, and their A side has been very strong.

Quick ball movement and good skill execution meant the St. Ignatius offense was moving and scoring, and with them keeping the ball effectively the opposition had trouble getting scoring chances.

The upshot was Ignatius beating St. Edward A 43-5, Perrysburg A 46-5, and Mentor A 59-7. The Ignatius B side went 2-1, beating Shaker Heights 20-7 and edging Perrysburg by a conversion 17-15. Hudson beat SIHS B 17-14. The Ignatius C side went 1-2.

Hudson, in fact, is now 5-0 after two weeks of action, as is St. Ignatius—the difference is the points scored, with Hudson averaging 12.4 points per game and SIHS 43.0.

Also in the mix is Highland at 5-1. Highland and Hudson did face off in a defensive battle, won by Hudson 7-5.

In the South, St. Xavier and Moeller HS are at the top, with St. X at 5-0 and Moeller at 4-0. Moeller beat St. Xavier Blue, Dublin, and Dayton Northern Force (in a close one 14-12), while St. X beat Northern Force, Walnut Hills, and Olentangy on Sunday.

St. Xavier's depth is starting to show and so is their athleticism. They have experience but also some young talent coming along.
