NSCRO Northeast Regionals Latest

New Haven, in blue,defeated SUNY Maritime.

The Northeast NSCRO Regional playoffs are underway.

Holy Cross defeated Ithaca 22-7 in the Cup Semis, while Salve Regina edged Colby 22-16 in an exciting encounter to set up the Regional Championship on Sunday. 

Captain Harry Holte, Mark Barry, Ant Giacchi, and Ben Aubuchon all scored tries in Salve's win.

In the Challenge Cup semis, New Haven beat SUNY Maritime. 

First-half scores by Trevor Hines and Van Foley put New Haven up 17-5. In the closing minute of the first half Maritime scored to close the gap to 17-12. In the second half Maritime scored on the opening possession to tie it at 17-17. It was a defensive battle from then on, with New Haven finally scoring at the 76-minute mark. Josh Smith went over from a five-meter scrum for his second try. Jake Davis scored in the finial seconds of the match to seal the victory for the Chargers.  

University of New Haven (10-0 including playoffs) will meet Wentworth, who beat SUNY Genesco 36-14, Sunday for the NSCRO Challenger Cup Regional Finials in an effort to punch their ticket to the National playoffs in April.
