No Scrum No Win - USA U20 Props Chime In

USA U20 props Conor Cudeback and Mason Pederson are part of a big, and hopefully unified forward pack set to face off with Canada Saturday in Austin, and they know the message.

"No scrum no win," said both as they discussed their training with Goff Rugby Report. Pederson and Cudeback played in high school at Wilson HS in Long Beach, Calif., and were also teammates on the Belmont Shore U19 team. Now they are part of a group trying to defeat Canada and qualify for the World Rugby Junior Trophy in Zimbabwe.

And everyone is excited.

"This is my first time playing for my country so it's a pretty big deal," said Pederson.

"We've got a good group of about 26 guys, working together pretty well," added Cudeback. "A lot of chemistry. It's working out."

There's a lot of work to do in preparation, and for the props it comes down to winning the point of contact, and winning the scrum.

"We want to dominate the scrum," said Cudeback. "And we want to dominate the breakdown, dominate defensively, and just take it to them."
