New Jersey Finals Saturday

New Jersey crowns two champions this weekend with Union County taking on Morris, and Delbarton facing St. Augustine.

Delbarton and Augustine will meet for the single-school championship - see more here. Delbarton has been unbeaten this year, but by far their toughest game was against St. Augustine, a 15-0 Delbarton victory.

Union, meanwhile, is coming off a solid performance at the Boys HS National Championships, where they won Tier II. Union not only has some impressive pace, they have a snappy field general in Jack "Chicken" Dabulas at flyhalf, and some power up front with Zach Koch and Nick Costa, and some athleticism in the back row with Khalil Burns. And their bench is strong, which is one of the reasons they've been able to run the table in New Jersey, as their subs keep the level of play high.

"We have to be prepared for Morris," warned Union Coach Joe Dabulas. "they hit hard and are very strong in the forwards. Their No. 8, Terre Hellander, is very, very good."

Several of the Union players suited up for the NJ Blaze in the HSRC 7s last week in Chester, Pa. losing only to eventual club winners the Exiles. The Blaze performance showcased some of the open-field talent both Morris and Union have.
