National Collegiate Rugby has confirmed that it will hold its 2022 Men's and Women's Championships in Houston, Texas in December.

Once again Aveva Stadium, the home of Major League Rugby’s Houston SaberCats, will host the championship weekends.

The women’s championships will be held on December 3-4 and include the semifinals and finals for NCR's Division I, Division II, and Small College playoffs. Following regional playoffs, a total of ten teams will travel to Houston seeking a national championship, meaning we will see two-game (semifinal and final) finishes for two of the divisions.

The Men’s championships are scheduled for December 9-11, with the two-game weekends getting a rest day between semifinals and finals. The Men’s Division II and Small College teams will play their semifinals on Friday and the finals on Sunday.

On Saturday, December 10, NCR will hold the Rhino Rugby Bowl and the Lonestar Bowl, featuring high-level teams that have earned national exposure. The men’s Division I and Division I-AA championship matches will follow.

“Our teams always feel welcome in Houston, and the SaberCats staff consistently deliver a professional-caliber experience for our players," said Jeremy Treece, NCR Chief Executive Officer. "We look forward to having both the men and women compete for national championships in Houston this year.”

The two events will bring 28 teams, over 700 athletes and coaches, and thousands of fans to the city of Houston, where AVEVA Stadium hosts NCR's finals in 2021 and also the 2022 men’s and women’s All Star tournaments this past January.

“We are excited to bring one of the premier college rugby events back to Houston," said J.T. Onyett, President of the Houston SaberCats. "It is great to have both the men’s and women’s championships—showcasing the future stars of American rugby.”
