We're opening up the fall rankings season with our NCR D1 Top 20.

Why a top 20? Because there aren't quite enough teams to do a Top 25. That's OK, it makes it more exclusive in some way.

A couple of things about this: It's really a guess each year especially in the opening week, so the results will make the changes for us. Also, we don't tend to look at NCR's own power rankings, so we have no idea if these are the same or different or what. By avoiding other rankings we keep these rankings at GRR more fresh.

Making Changes in the Rankings

We go into detail in the opening D1A rankings about some changes we're made in how we rank college teams. Have a look at that if you want. But part of what we said was that there might be overlap between the top NCR D1 teams and the D1A rankings. At some point we might release a ranking covering both. But at the same time, we might not. We've decided to keep them separate mostly because our D1A rankings are used for the D1A's own combined Power Rankings so we can't mix them up with non-D1A teams.
