The North American Caribbean Rugby Association (NACRA) U19 Boys 15s championships kicked off Saturday in Orlando with two first-round games.

The South U19 program had to field two teams to take the United States' spot and Jamaica's spot. Saturday the South Red team took on Mexico, and lost 29-8. Mexico has been training a altitude, and thei fitness stood them in good stead as the South tried to exert physical dominance in tight.

In the first half, it was all South in terms of time of possession, and that nullified Mexico's fancy backline. The teams were tied 8-8 at halftime, but Mexico finished the stronger and was able to open up the attack late in the game to win. 

Meanwhile, Barbados defeated Turks & Cacos 39-12. Both games were played in front of a large contingent of college coaches and recruiters.

On Sunday, South Blue takes on Bermuda, and Cayman Islands will play Trinidad & Tobago.
