Mountain View Still On Top In Idaho, Only More So

Mountain View is along atop both Rugby Idaho girls 7s leagues after a big Saturday of rugby in the Gem State.

In the JV bracket, Mountain View dispatched a solid Eagle team 17-5 and then shut out Meridian 34-0 to go 2-0. Meanwhile, Rocky Mountain Purple and Rocky Mountain Black have been chasing Mountain View. But 3-1 RM Black lost to 2-2 RM Purple to give Mountain View a little breathing room. Both Rocky Mountain teams went on to win by shutout to move to 4-2.

Varsity Bracket

Mountain View remains undefeated in the Varsity competition.

A 29-5 win over Eagle HS and then a dramatic 15-12 squeaker over an improving Meridian wrapped up the day for Mountain View. Rocky Mountain also won twice, over Centennial and Meridian, to keep close at 5-1.

Girls Varsity Scores:
Rocky Mountain 47-0 Centennial
Eagle HS 5-29 Mountain View
Meridian 7-24 Rocky Mountain
Centennial 0-43 Eagle HS
Mountain View 15-12 Meridian

Mountain View's defense, which is partly due to the team's ability to control possession, has been excellent, with the team averaging less than a try a game allowed. Mountain View has recorded three shutouts and Meridian is the only team to score more than one try against them.

So that leaves the standings this way:

Rugby Idaho Girls Fall 7s Standings After Round 3
Varsity W L T PF PA PD Pts
Mountain View 6 0 0 170 27 143 6
Rocky Mountain  5 1 0 157 71 86 5

Eagle 2 4 0 93 92 1 2
Centennial 0 6 0 5 239 -234 0

Round 4 will be Tuesday (JV) and Wednesday (Varsity) of this coming week.
