Mount St. Mary's defeated Southern Virginia University 39-15 in a rescheduled game delayed until Monday, October 11.

SVU was just coming off a 19-14 win over Virginia Tech on Saturday.

The game was tight through the first half and the teams changed ends with MSM up 14-12. Damon James scored both tries for the Mount and Evan Corbett converted both. In the second half, the Mount started to build on that lead. Corbett hit a penalty goal, Matt Freeman added a try to make it 22-12.

SVU added a penalty but then Corbett went over for two and Mount St. Mary's now had a commanding lead at 32-15.

A try from Liam Horton, converted by Edrich Gutmann finished it off. With the 17 points on the day Corbett is now in 2nd place in the conference in points scored, behind Hilton Olivier of Queens University.

The win put Mount St. Mary's in 1st place in the Chesapeake Conference with a 3-1 record. However, Queens University Charlotte and Mary Washington are close behind and at 3-0 are in somewhat better position.

This coming weekend SVU takes on Queens in a key game for both. UMW takes on Virginia Tech and MSM plays NC State. For the most part the leading teams are favored in those games. But a week later Mount St. Mary's faces Mary Washington, and then UMW takes on Queens a week later—that should decide who finishes where.
