More state finals are coming up but we also have state winners this week. Pendleton wrapped up what turned out to be a very solid season with a 34-12 win over Mudsock to take Indiana’s D1.

Garrett Pederson’s early try put Pendleton on the front foot and he added another around the halftime break. Kaden Hasty scored twice and Reece Davis added one more. In Pendleton’s close win over Penn HS in the semis, Pederson also scored an early try to get his team going.

With Pendleton girls making the Indiana girls DII final and their youth teams doing well, it was, overall, a very good season for Pendleton. 

Tries from Mezziahs McDaniel and Dane Whitlock led Brownsburg to a 12-5 win over Leo to take Indiana’s Boys DII title. 

Westside took the girls final 24-17 over Forth Wayne thanks in part to tries from Aniya Duncan, Jayana Williams, and Dana Ulioa. 

Coming up this weekend, Ohio crowns champions in Girls, Boys Varsity, Boys HS Club, and Boys School. Eight teams are in the Rugby Michigan quarterfinals with both QFs and Semifinals on Saturday.

It's St. Joseph's Academy vs Brunswick for the girls, St. ignatius vs St. Edward for Varsity, Warrior vs Medina for school, and Westshore vs Olentangy for the club.

Marquette faces Green Bay in the Wisconsin boys final. also on Saturday.

RugbyNY holds their semifinals this weekend with Tier 1 and Tier 2 semifinals at Syracuse University.

In Tier 1 Corning takes on Xavier HS, while Fordham prep plays McQuaid Jesuit. In Tier 2, Chaminade plays Canisius and Rye plays Orchard Park.

Xavier made the final with a 28-10 win over Rye two weeks ago, led by flyhalf Edward Marquez-Miles. Corning beat Canisius 36-26 to make the semis. with prop Josiah Plumley and lock Jayden VanDusen each scoring a brace of tries. Led by flyhalf William Whelehan McQuaid is 7-0 in Upsate NY. 

Corning plays Orchard Park in the RugbyNY girls final, also at Syracuse University.

Last week Pelham beat St. Anthony’s in a bowl game with No. 8 Christian King-Bacote scoring three tries and flyhalf Jonathan Mullan scoring 19 points.

In Connecticut Trumbull, whose program has newly achieved varsity status on campus, plays Fairfield Prep in the semifinals, and Greenwich plays the Fairfield Pegasi club.
