The Mid-Atlantic Challenge Cup Regional Cup Tournament is in its 11th year and once again returns to Founders Field in Pittsburgh, Pa. June 20-21.

This is one of the biggest and most successful HS all-star events on the East Coast, with 25% of players from the last two events being named to the Stars & Stripes game in Colorado.

The Boys Varsity bracket includes defending champions Florida. Also on the slate will be Indiana, Pennsylvania, Florida, New Jersey, Illinois, and Virginia. Ohio will, as they often do, send a split team of Ohio North and Ohio South. New York also splits, with the Western New York team and the Empire New York teams participating. Virginia also will send a 2nd team into the varsity bracket.

For the girls, defending champions Virginia return, along with Maryland, Indiana, Ohio North, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. Once again, New York splits off, with Western New York fielding a team, and the New York Empire team including some players from New Jersey. Wisconsin is a new team to this tournament and will bring a boatload of talent. They are coached by Jeff Noe from Kettle Moraine.

Nine teams fill the Boys JV bracket - Virginia (last years winner), Maryland, Indiana, Ohio South, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida, Illinois, and Western New York.  There is also a Boys 7th/8th-Grade bracket with five teams - Virginia, Indiana (last year’s winner), Ohio North, Western New York, and Pennsylvania.

Several coaches will be in attendance to scout for high performance teams. Mike Hodgins will scout for USA Rugby for the Stars & Stripes boys teams. Tom Feury will scout for the Stars & Stripes girls teams. Hodgins, Paule Barford, Eric Jerpe, and Chris Amoritis will scout for the Boys HS All American team, while Lance Connolly and Scott Stratton will scout for the girls HS All American team.
