And so, finally, the final Men's DII rankings.
Minnesota-Duluth was ranked #1 all through the fall, and never wavered. Wisconsin-Whitewater was ranked #2 all fall and never wavered. Everything, in the end, is measured against them. Georgetown keeps a relatively high ranking because they alone were challengers to Towson and Salisbury in the Potomac/Capital region. Rowan stays high because they almost beat Towson.
We bump Salisbury over Towson based on observation from this past weekend, but it's a close one.
There are, of course, DII-level teams around the rest of the country, but they compete as NSCRO teams. The lack of crossover competition between all of these teams still makes it difficult to rank, and certainly it makes it difficult for some teams to figure out what the highest standard is.
UMD and UWW have been the top teams in the nation because they are athletic, and powerful, but also because they play together, even when things get bad. That's the difference. That's why they are the best.
