MARC Latest: WCU and Rowan Win Close Games

Rowan and WCU scrum down from their last meeting. They didn't play this week as both won.

It was an interesting day in the Mid-Atlantic Rugby Conference Saturday.

St. Joseph's, rated by many coaches in the conference as the front-runner, lost 21-17 to Rowan to slip to 2-1. Rowan, which beat Delaware last week and Temple the week before is now 3-0.

Rutgers rebounded from a rough week two weeks ago to beat Delaware 19-12. Also bouncing back was Salisbury, which lost a close one to West Chester last week and this week rumbled past Temple 55-5.

West Chester won yet another close game, edging James Madison 31-28.

WCU Head Coach Bjorn Haglid was blunt in his assessment of the game: "West Chester plays 80 minutes of rugby, whereas JMU being up 21-5 at halftime figured the game was done."

West Chester and Rowan are both 3-0, but WCU has the edge with bonus points because Rowan didn't get four tries this week.
