Longhorns, Aggies Win in Red River

UT Austin beat A&M in the fall but that was a non-conference game. This is the Longhorn team post-game.

Texas beat previously unbeaten TCU 38-0 in Red River Conference play Saturday.

For the Longhorns, this was a nice step forward as they moved to 3-0 in the conference and in a solid position to remain atop the standings.

Fullback Aleander Teague scored two tries for Teas while scrumhalf Theo Quay, flanker Jack Slaney, lock Tom Marlow, and wing Guy Leroux all scored one try.

Flyhalf Tom Bradley converted four of the six tries.

"I was most happy with our effort and attitude on defense," said Texas Head Coach Van Stewart. "Whenever they got the ball we smothered them and didn't give them much room to move. We played the game in their half of the field and our set piece was strong."

With the backline finish tries out wide and Bradley operating the attack nicely, the Longhorns are in good shape. Along with standouts Teague and Bradley, flanker Daniel Jing was also very good, leading the way on defense.

Teas A&M, meanwhile, won in a shutout also, beating Baylor 55-0.

Wings Abbas Bangash and Conner Cantrell scored the opening two tries and center Kaden Vohnout along with fullback Andres Lasala added one each before Raul "Joey" Garcia made it 31-0 at halftime.

On the field at fullback, Lucas Corsico added a try in the second half and Cohnout and Cantrell both notched their second. The two fullbacks, Lasala and Corsico, contributed a total of five conversions.

It was a comprehensive win for the Aggies and sets up nicely the February 17 conference meeting between A&M and UT.
