Life Routs Three in Florida

The Life University Women's rugby team had a tiring weekend, playing three games in two days over Saturday and Sunday.

This was good practice for the Running Eagles as playoff time comes along, and Life did well, beating South Florida and Florida International on Saturday, and then a Florida Select Squad 47-7 on Sunday.

"The coaching staff wasn't exactly sure what to expect on day two, with having all of our athletes having played substantial minutes the day before," Head Coach Rosalind Chou told liferunningeagles.com. "However, the women displayed a ton of grit by coming out hard and fast out of the gate. The work we've been doing, repping a number of players in different positions, has been paying off and we were lucky enough to get everyone on the pitch again today. The forwards were just workhorses around the pitch. The backline continues to improve on their defensive pressure, with special acknowledgements to both Deshel Ferguson and Savannah Austin striking outside on the wings."

Overall, Life scored 196 points in the three games, and gave up 12. Deshel Ferguson led all players with seven tries, but Cynthia Kelly, Kaitlyn Broughton, Ravyn Santiago, Savannah Austin, Ana Fanning, Gracie Martinez, and Kimberly Semiglia all scored multiple tries. Madison Ohmann scored 38 points on conversions.
