The top teams led the way in the Liberty this weekend, with Northeastern, Boston College, Syracuse, and Iona all winning.

BC defeated a fairly tenacious UMass 38-29. Quin Kelly and Connor Robinson led the scoring as the Eagles moved to 5-1 in-conference. Northeastern is a step ahead at 6-0 after beating Fordham 31-17. Scrumhalf Darren Chan was perfect from the kicking tee and Jack Bambrick, Sam Moyle, Coleman Jackson, and Elijah Gullage all touched down.

Still, NU needed a bit of a comeback as Fordham led 17-7 after 50 minutes.

Wing Jacob Hauser, fullback Jean Eric van der Elst, hooker Aidan Kelly, and flanker Matthew Kenelly all scored two tries for Syracuse as the Hammerheads dispatched Albany 63-10 to remain undefeated.

Cooper Szelest scored a try and converted four others as Buffalo beat Colgate 36-14 to move to 6-1.

And in a battle of unbeaten teams in the I-95, Iona beat AIC 54-20. Iona Head Coach Bruce McLane heaped praise on the power and physicality of AIC, but his Gaels still won out. Watson Filikitonga, Tyler Ringwood, and Michael Hay all scored two tries. AIC was within a try at about 50 minutes, but tries from Ringwood and Hay opened up a cushion for Iona.

While Iona won't play in the Liberty playoffs, the other teams will. Northeastern and Syracuse have won their divisions, and AIC will probably go through from the I-95. That leaves the question of which 2nd-place team is the best. That will either be Boston College or University of Buffalo.
