Northern California’s single-school cup will be decided next Saturday with Jesuit an De La Salle set to meet up.

Jesuit defeated Bellarmine College Prep 69-0 in the semifinals this weekend, showcasing and impressive backline attack. Davin Kelly was especially impressive, finding gaps from his fullback position and setting up his teammates. With scrumhalf David Hause and flyhalf Hunter Modlin directing things nicely, five different Jesuit backs scored tries.

Up front Matthew Marsh and Soren Peterson led a sterling forward effort.

“It was great to get out on the rugby field and give over 40 players a chance to run,” said Jesuit Head Coach Andrew Acosta. “I also want to credit Bellarmine for contesting for 70 minutes and giving us a well fought game.”

De La Salle also won big, beating a Christian Brothers, who outlasted Bishop O’Dowd 29-26 the week before.

The Spartans were in good form this week and punished Christian Brothers mistakes to win 55-5.

De La Salle will face Jesuit Saturday at the Saint Mary’s College rugby stadium next Saturday for the Northern California single-school title.
