Indiana Wins Big 10

The University of Indiana rode a torrid second half to get past Ohio State and win the Big Ten Saturday at Fortress Obetz in Ohio.

The victory capped off a day of final games in the conference, with all eight teams in action.

Ohio State and Indiana played it pretty close in the first half, but as time went on, IU started to control the point of contact.

"On offense and defense we started to get more physical," said Indiana assistant coach Daniel Devlin. "In the second half we wanted to just execute at the level we know how."

Ohio State started strong and led for much of the first half. IU closed the gap to 7-5 when Will Chevalier scored just before halftime. Slowly IU started to get closer. Chevalier, Joey Blakly, and the shifty Iason Terezis moved the lead to 27-7. Michael Nettleton and Chevalier set up Dan Hughes for the final score.

Ohio State got a little more frantic as the game progressed, and that forced them into mistakes. Indiana 34, Ohio State 7.

In the 3rd-4th game, Illinois thundered past Michigan 45-10. Michigan had worked hard to get to this game by beating Michigan State in a midweek game that was a bad-weather makeup. But that game likely took a little bit out of the Wolverines, and certainly Illinois started strong.

The 5th-6th game was much the same story. Michigan State, perhaps a little tired after the midweek game, battled Wisconsin close for a while. But the Badgers pulled away as the game went on to win 44-10. Minnesota took down Purdue 41-29 to take 7th.
