HS Nationals Application Process Almost Here

Decision time for attending the Boys HS Rugby National Championships is not that far off; school teams and HS club teams are being encouraged to plan now for next spring’s event.

The 2022 National Championships was carried some thrills with it, including:

  • The 2021 HS Club champion being channeled into Tier II for 2022 and winning that instead, putting Thunder Rugby on a six-game Nationals winning streak
  • The HS Club bracket featuring seven of the 12 games decided by a try or less.
  • For the second year in a row a team won the Single-School bracket that had never won it before—Herriman in 2021 and St. Ignatius in 2022.

What Teams Need to Know

The date has shifted from mid May to late May for 2023. This is to avoid the University of Notre Dame graduation weekend, which would significantly impact hotel rates and space.

Dates Decided for 2023 Boys HS National Championships

So, the 2023 dates are: Thursday, May 25 through Saturday, May 27, 2023.

The 2023 venue is: Moose Rugby Grounds, Elkhart, Ind.

New Streaming Partner: The tournament has not finalized the deal but they will not be streamed by FloRugby in 2023, and will instead be partnering with another live streaming service

Applications: Teams apply to attend the BHSNC because this allows programs to plan travel and fundraising. Teams are accepted based on their long-term success as well as their current quality. Sometimes a large number of teams from one region will be accepted based on games between those teams.

Applications will be opened in January. Check back on this link (goffrugbyreport.com/tags/boys-hs-national-championships) to see if the application is live) and invitations will be send out starting in February.
