HS All-Stars in Tennessee and Ohio

The All-Star and select-side season is coming back in high school rugby and we have a quick look at two tournaments this weekend.

The Panther Academy Elite 15s is being held in Hendersonville, Tenn. while the Buckeye Invitational is in Columbus.

Panther Academy 15s

The Midwest Thunderbirds, Missouri, and Panther Rugby Academy all have teams playing.

While it's just the three programs, there are multiple teams involved. The idea, then, is to get these players high-level competition rather than worry about what the name of the team is.

Panther features four teams, two at U19 and two at U17.

The Thunderbirds will field two U19 teams plus a U17 and a U15 side. Missouri brings just the one side.

Here is the schedule:

Buckeye Invitational

The boys bracket involved four teams, with the Ohio Aviators featuring players from all over the state, while Celtic brings in players mostly from the Northern end (Cleveland and environs). North Carolina and the Illinois Tornadoes are also in on the action.

There will also be a rematch of the Ohio Aviators U23s vs Pittsburgh Forge.

All four boys teams will play each other in shortened games—two on Saturday and one on Sunday—and then the top two will play again while the other two play for 3rd.

The girls bracket includes Ohio Aviators, Celtic, North Carolina, Allegheny, and Wisconsin. With five teams this is a straight round-robin, with every team playing the other four, two on Saturday and two on Sunday.
