Heart of America Looks to Major Clashes

The Heart of America Conference remains one of the more competitive conferences in DIAA and certainly the conference started that way.

Oklahoma State and Arkansas combined for 107 points on Saturday, with the Razorbacks coming away with 72 of them. Flyhalf Tyson Lucas ran a pretty snappy offense, scoring on his own and setting up a few, including a well-executed wiper kick caught on the fly. Scrumhalf Aidan Olivier was effective as a goalkicker and in getting his side out of trouble, and in the deep three Simon Stemmler and Jackson Schemmel were very difficult to contain.

Prop Brooks Tate was a monster.

Kansas did just fine, too, although their game against Missouri had about a quarter of the points the Arkansas-OSU game had. It was a defensive effort, and Kansas got some big games from some relatively surprising sources.

Kansas won 23-5.

Minnesota exerted some early pressure on Nebraska and basically spent the first 50 minutes or so in the Cornhuskers’ half and won 56-17.

Led by four tries from sophomore lock Alex Geisert Iowa State slammed Truman State 92-0.

Next Up

But we’re going to see some interesting clashes this week with high-scoring Arkansas at defensive-minded Kansas, while the upstart Minnesota Gophers will face 92-point-scoring Iowa State.
