Great NW Challenge Latest

Friday has seen the completion of Day One of the Great Northwest Challenge.

Here are how things look:

Boys Tier 1

The NC Sharks Academy and Washington Loggers opened up Pool A with a 21-21 tie, and while the Loggers then went on to lose to the Utah Cannibals, the Sharks beat the Utah team to lead the pool at 1-0-1.

TOA leads Pool B, beating the Washington Wolverines 22-15 and the NC Barbarians 34-10.

Nike Legion lead Pool C with wins over Mustangs 29-14 and Washington Wolverines Black 40-5.  Oregon Redhawks, Mustangs, and Wolverines Black are all 1-1.

The teams will cross over for Saturday action.

Boys Tier 2

Oregon won Pool A with a 31-24 win over the NC Barbarians and a 26-7 win over the Washington Loggers. TOA won Pool B with a 21-10 win over the Washington Wolverines and 17-12 over NC Sharks Academy.

TOA takes on the Barbarians and the Redhawks play the Sharks in the semis. The two Washington teams play off for 5th.

Girls Tier 1

Six teams are participating in a robust girls Tier 1 bracket with Utah Cannibals beating TOA and the Loggers to win Pool A. Neither game was particularly in doubt.

Oregon blew through Pool B with a 50-10 win over Majestics and 45-12 over the NorCal Jr. Pelicans.

Girls Tier 2

It’s a broken record from us by now. The Tier 2 brackets in girls are decimated. Oregon and TOA are the only teams in this bracket, and they split their first two games.

Middle School

Three teams are playing in the girls MS bracket, with NorCal and Provo now 2-1.

A Game leads in boys middle school, and should cruise on Saturday.
