Great Northwest Challenge, Talent ID Set for This Weekend
Great Northwest Challenge, Talent ID Set for This Weekend
The largest HS select side tournament is set for this coming weekend in Montana.
Bozeman will host the Great Northwest Challenge with four brackets involving at least 33 teams.
In addition, there will be a college showcase and college coaches scouting players throughout the weekend. College coaches and recruiters who are attending get access to recruiting data, match footage, testing data, and have a presence in the college recruiting areas. Because they get that stuff they need to register. College coaches and recruiters can register here>>
As for the teams, the largest bracket is the Boys U19 competition.
Currently 11 teams are confirmed, including much of the western part of the contiguous USA:
Washington
Oregon
Northern California
Utah
Colorado
Montana
Eastern Washington
Idaho
Arizona
Also competing is Iowa, the most eastern team in the GNC. Northern California won this bracket in 2024.
The Girls 19 competition is large, also, with nine teams confirmed including two from Northern California and one from defending champs Washington.
Late Surge Sees Washington Girls Win GNC
This bracket has certainly expanded for 2025.
Along with winning the U19 Boys division in 2024, Northern California won the U16s as well.
GNC Glory for Northern California U19 and U16 Boys Teams
The Boys U16 bracket has nine teams, including two from Northern California and teams from Colorado, Washington, Eastern Washington, Idaho, Arizona, Utah, and hosts Montana.
There will also be a Girls U16 bracket, although that is relatively small (four teams) and will be 7s. However, since the girls U19 bracket has expanded significantly since the 2024 tournament, so this will expand over time.
College recruiters from all over the country are expected at the GNC. There will be a Talent ID Day on Friday, June 27 at Montana State University with some athletic metrics tracked.
