Wisconsin-Whitewater put together an impressive display to beat UW-Platteville on Sunday 49-19 to move to 2-1 in the Great Midwest.

The games ran to form this week. Loyola set themselves up for a key clash with Northern Iowa next week by beating Northwestern 57-7. It was, in fact, the first points scored by Northwestern in conference play, but Loyola still won the Northside Cup between the two Chicago Northside schools.

Inside center Riley Miller scored four tries while Andrew Masterson, Josh Kilment, and Aiden Kelly were especially good on defense.

We're close to the playoffs already and Marquette and Northern Iowa are in good position to make the semis. Illinois State is at 3-1 and has finished their conference play after shutting out Illinois-Chicago on Saturday. So they await the result of Loyola-Northern Iowa. If Loyola can beat Northern Iowa then Loyola is in the playoffs and ISU is out. A bonus-point win for Loyola would put them in 1st. (There are a few ramifications involving bonus points or lack thereof. If Loyola wins and neither they nor UNI get a bonus point, then we've got a three-way tie at 15 points. But a bonus-point win for Loyola gets them in. UNI has the tiebreaker over Illinois State, and Illinois State has the tiebreaker over Loyola of only those two are tied on points.)
