Goff Rugby Report Player of the Month Scholarship Awards Are Back

In 2022 this award program contributed $500 to the further education of Lucca Deocaariza (SOC Raptors) and Lexi Erdonlino (City Honors).

Goff Rugby Report is bringing back our Player of the Month award.

We launched this in 2022 and asked for nominations for high school rugby players who are great players on the field and accomplished off the field as well.

This year, while we've waited until summer to not get lost in the clutter of all the news during the spring, we have expanded the process. Four student-athletes will be chosen this year for August, September, November, and December.

Each high school rugby player we choose will receive $500 toward their post-high school education or training in conjunction with the sponsorship from Next Phase Rugby. Then, at the end of the year, we will have an extra $1,000 for a special recipient, who could be one of the previous winners, or one of the nominees who perhaps took the extra step.

April Player of the Month: Lucca Deocariza

May Player of the Month: Lexi Erdolino

FAQs:

1. How does a student-athlete get nominated? Have someone let us know how great you are as a player and as a contributor to society (that's crucial) using this form>>

2. Can I nominate even if the player was nominated last year? Yes, but we'd expect you to re-enter the information.

3. What HS players can be nominated? Players who have just graduated this past spring or winter, or will be entering senior year will be given priority. If you want to nominate someone younger, go ahead, but the expectation is that we will be sending the scholarship money no later than September of 2024.

4. How does a winner get the scholarship money? Normally we simply send a check to your college financial office. However, remember this isn't just for college ... it could be for a professional training program or other post-high school education.

5. Is this just for college? No! Trade school, apprenticeship, or other post-high school education counts.

6. If I nominate someone in July and they don't get picked, are they eligible for later months? Yes! Once nominated for this year's round of awards, a student-athlete remains in the pool throughout the cycle.
